Many of you will be aware that My Vaccine Pass requirements are being implemented across the country. We are gobsmacked and very distressed about this. Libraries have long been the great equaliser, an incredible community service that has given access to EVERYONE to learning and digital inclusion.
We believe we can reverse the library mandates.
They make no sense and the government does not require them.
But we need YOU.
(If you are double vaccinated this makes you a POWERHOUSE because your letter cannot be dismissed as the ramblings of a conspiracy theorist.)
1- These decisions have been made by councillors, so please find out who your local councillor is - a quick call to your council will clarify which email address is best to send it to.
2- Find out (usually by a quick search on the council’s website) if they are
a) currently making the decision, like the Waikato District Council or
b) if they have already made the decision to implement (such as Auckland, Hamilton, Christchurch)
c) if they have made the decision to NOT implement such as Hutt City and Hauraki.
Depending on step two we have three letters you can use as a draft - although it’s always better to make these more personal.
Feel free to copy and paste from these google documents:
This letter is for those currently making the decision
This letter is for those who have made the decision to implement and you want to ask them to reverse it
This letter is to thank councillors for not implementing the decision
If you send an email today we implore you to let us know in the comment - WHO you contacted and what region/town you are in. This is so we can keep a record of how many letters are being sent.
THANK YOU, you sexy letter writing thing you.
PS - We recommend not using the words COVID or VACCINE as we have heard some official’s inboxes are filtering those out.
I have emailed Greg Sayers, Phil Goff of Akl Council as well as Chris Penk MP for my area
I emailed James Gough, Councillor for Fendalton Ward, Christchurch
